Qualification Overview

The Emergency Medical Response & Life Support qualification category is designed to develop essential knowledge and practical skills for responding effectively to medical emergencies and life-threatening situations.
This category covers a wide range of life-saving competencies, including first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), automated external defibrillator (AED) use, basic life support (BLS), advanced life support concepts, and emergency response coordination.
The qualifications support safe, timely, and effective emergency care in workplaces, healthcare settings, high-risk industries, and community environments.
Programmes within this category are structured from basic awareness to advanced supervisory and leadership levels, ensuring learners can perform, support, and manage emergency medical response activities in accordance with recognised best practice and safety guidelines.

Entry Requirements

Entry requirements depend on the level of qualification. Level 2 programmes are open to individuals with basic literacy and numeracy skills and do not require prior medical or healthcare experience.
Level 3 qualifications typically require completion of a lower-level first aid or life support course or relevant workplace experience in safety, healthcare, or emergency response roles.
Level 4 and higher programmes are designed for experienced responders, supervisors, healthcare support staff, or individuals with prior training in first aid, life support, or emergency response and may require evidence of relevant experience or qualifications.
All learners must be physically capable of participating in practical training and assessments and able to understand and follow emergency response instructions delivered in English.
